My good friend Jair Téllez, with his brother and sister-in-law Vladimir and Gabriela, are currently opening a new restaurant in Tijuana, Verde y Crema. Jair is well-known for his restaurants Laja (in the Valle de Guadalupe) and Merotoro (in Mexico City), both of which often place highly in “best of” lists of restaurants in Latin America and worldwide.
Verde y Crema — named after the bus company whose old maintenance yard has been converted into the restaurant — brings the products and ethos of the Valle de Guadalupe to Tijuana/San Diego, including pasture-raised meats and local wine and olive oil. Also, plenty of craft beer from Baja, San Diego and elsewhere. The restaurant is located on Orizaba across from BCB Tasting Room, just off Agua Caliente Boulevard a little to the west of Calle Sonora and the Tijuana Country Club.
